Katherine Ann-Marie Tuenter 2011 |
Katherine has been attached to her piano for over ten years. After learning piano at age 10 from her mother who was a piano teacher, she stumbled across modern music around the age of 14 and started playing by ear. She learned methods of classical singing from 16 and at 17 she first posted covers of Vanessa Carlton to YouTube, which eventually progressed into tutorials of various artists and finally original recordings. In 2012 YouTube progressed to 'The singer/songwriter's guide to music" through the form of a Vlog. Katherine's YouTube channel is currently in partnership with YouTube.
Katherine has performed live at a number of venues, and appeared on New Zealand's second series of 'Stars in their Eyes' in 2009. She also won the songwriting competition 'Word Up' in 2008 as best solo artist and writes music for publishing in her spare time. Katherine has also played keys for a variety of bands and solo performers.
Katherine's influences include: John Mayer, Vanessa Carlton, Regina Spektor, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, The Killers, Kimbra, Lana Del Ray, Evanescence, and many classical composers such as Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Schumann.
